BDA Accident Statistics

One of the requirements of BDA membership is that members supply their accident statistics every year. Each return is treated confidentially and the figures collated into a BDA report. This process was first instituted in 2004 and we achieve 100% return from the membership.

The BDA accident return forms classify accidents according to the format in RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations). Information on RIDDOR can be obtained from the HSE website.

The BDA uses the returns to identify trends. Future surveys will collect the causes of accidents.
