The British Drilling Association (BDA) is pleased to announce the first of its next series of industry seminars – “WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF RISING COMPLACENCY ABOUT GEOTECHNICS?” – will be held Thursday 31st October 2019, at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton Hotel, 130 Tottenham Court Road, Fitzrovia, London W1T 5AY.
As the influence and impact of technology permeates the work the geotechnical sector undertakes it is all too easy to become complacent, assuming recent advances in approach and techniques have been changes for the better. However, whilst advances have brought many benefits, the accompanying complacency is a new source of potential risk, and the latest seminar from the BDA will seek to explore this as well as propose procedures and methodologies to help mitigate it.
The seminar will present the influencers and technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Risk, Ground Models, etc that can both encourage complacency. Speakers will include Tim Chapman, Director of Infrastructure at Arup; Mike De Freitas of Imperial College and Patrick Cox, Director of Major Projects Environment, AECOM and Rory O’Rourke Vice President of Sales, Datum Group
Registration 12.30pm, with speakers from 1.00pm – 5.30pm, with 30 minutes coffee and networking break, followed at 5.20pm by canapĂ©s, drinks and further networking opportunities.
