June 5, 2020
At a meeting of the Officers and Sub-committee Chairs’ on 4 June, it was decided to cancel the 2020 Management Committee elections.
The original voting papers sent out to members did not include all nominated candidates, the eligibility of candidates to stand was not verified, the status of payment of company membership fees was not checked, not all members received voting papers and there is no record of the votes that were received. The make up of the Management Committee will therefore remain as it was on 27 April 2020. Candidates who stood for a place on the Management Committee will be encouraged to contribute to a Sub-committee.
It is proposed to amend the rules of the British Drilling Association (BDA), so that it will be a requirement that an individual participates on a Sub-committee for at least 1 year, before being eligible to join the Management Committee, to demonstrate commitment to the aims and objectives of the BDA and to show a positive and active contribution.
