Rotary Guarding Guidance Published

Guidance has been published regarding Rotary Guarding, and is available for download from the BDA website here: https://www.britishdrillingassociation.co.uk/4837-2/

The document has been issued in response to BDA analysis of audit data, which identified that different members are interpreting the drilling machine guarding requirements in a variety of ways, and this is affecting members’ audit results.

From lessons learnt, the BDA is sharing the guidance to assist members going forward and originates from the BDA’s interpretation of HSE Regulations that control the use and manufacture of rotary drilling machines. The BDA has also included information from the British Standards that apply to rotary drilling machines.

Illustrations are included to help explain some of the many issues addressed.
