Join the British Drilling Association’s New Entrant Training Scheme for 2024/25!

July 18, 2024

The British Drilling Association (BDA) is pleased to announce the commencement of its ‘New Entrant Training Scheme’, for the 2024/25 session, starting mid-September 1014. We are calling on all member companies in the land drilling sector to sign up their drillers by the deadline of 24th August 2024.

About the Scheme

The BDA’s New Entrant Training Scheme is an 18-month Land Drilling Specialist Applied-Skills Programme, crafted to develop a novice into a proficient Lead Driller. This comprehensive programme concludes with the awarding of the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Land Drilling, Level 2.

Training Approach

The programme integrates formal off-the-job education with practical, supervised on-the-job training. This dual methodology ensures that trainees gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, culminating in an NVQ assessment to validate their readiness as a Lead Driller.

Unique Features

  • Industry-wide Relevance: Open to various sectors within land drilling, this scheme is a versatile opportunity for diverse organisations.
  • Endorsement and Support: Endorsed by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and part of CITB’s Specialist Applied-Skills Programmes (SAPs).
  • Financial Assistance: Eligible employers can access grants to offset training costs.
  • Comprehensive Support by BDA: The BDA manages all administrative tasks, arranges off-the-job training, coordinates with CITB for on-the-job training, and oversees the NVQ assessment.

Invitation for Applications

We urge organisations to identify team members with a passion and aptitude for a long-term drilling career and sign them up now. For more details and application procedures, please contact Joel Stevens, BDA General Manager – joel@britishdrillingassociation.co.uk

Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your workforce and contribute to the future of the drilling industry!
