BDA Webinar – An Introduction to PFAS from an Analytical Laboratory’s Perspective

April 4, 2025

The British Drilling Association (BDA) is pleased to announce its next webinar in the 2025 series: “An Introduction to PFAS from an Analytical Laboratory’s Perspective”, taking place at 1pm on 11th June 2025 – proudly sponsored by Borehole Solutions.

This one-hour session will be jointly presented by Andrew Sykes and Marie Armstrong of Element, who will offer a clear, technical introduction to the increasingly important topic of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), from the viewpoint of an analytical laboratory.

PFAS, often dubbed “forever chemicals” due to their persistence in the environment, are becoming a critical focus in contaminated land investigations, groundwater monitoring and remediation strategies. The webinar will explain:

  • What PFAS are and why they pose a challenge
  • Current regulatory activity and guidance on testing
  • Sampling protocols to avoid cross-contamination
  • Analytical methods used to detect PFAS
  • Practical insights from recent lab experience

The webinar will be essential for anyone involved in geoenvironmental investigations, brownfield development, or laboratory analysis.
