If you have any ideas, suggestions or comments that you would like to be discussed at this committee, or if you would like to offer advice or assistance please contact the BDA office – office@britishdrillingassociation.co.uk
The scope of activity of this committee covers anything with regard to drilling safety & health; UK legislation on safety, machinery and transport; British and European Standards; other standards, guidance & specifications, and all technical matters.
The committee, comprises Safety Managers and experts from within the industry. It also forms ad hoc Working Parties to concentrate on any particular issue. A working party will co-opt specialists to help it to develop a wider BDA consensus. On safety matters the committee works very closely with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) which often participates in discussions, meetings, working parties etc. to aid the work of the committee. This formal link with the HSE ensures that the BDA, HSE and the industry have clear understandings of requirements and what is necessary to comply with them.
In recent years the committee has been dealing with such subjects as accident statistics, rig guarding, tachographs, contaminated land, lifting legislation, hazardous gases etc. as well as producing various safety guidance documents (see publications). For full information on safety matters see Safety.
