The BDA is often asked what the different membership categories are, particularly now that membership is being sought by clients, suppliers and other organisations allied to the drilling sector but not directly involved.
Basically, there are technically four categories of BDA Membership, and each has its own benefits and rights, and fees vary accordingly:
Corporate Membership – is perhaps the most common membership and is open to companies, partnerships, and sole traders etc., in the drilling sector. To qualify contractor members, have to provide proof that all of their drilling operatives either have or are registered to take, the NVQ Land Drilling, Level 2. This category includes full voting membership, as well as all other benefits. Fees for Corporate Membership are according to turnover:
Supplier Membership – this membership category is open to non-contracting suppliers only. Members of this category receive additional advertising and exhibition benefits and like Corporate Membership, fees are according to turnover:
Associate Membership – is primarily open for overseas and academic individuals and as such carries no voting rights. It is priced at £100 +VAT.
Consultant or Client Membership – this category and is open to consultants, defined by the BDA as “those engaged in giving professional / expert advice but not contracted to supply ground drilling services or equipment, and to clients defined as those engaged in procuring or specifying ground drilling services but not contracting to supply such services or directly employing sub contracted drillers”.
For this membership category interest companies should contact the BDA’s General Manager, Joel Stevens, via: office@britishdrillingassociation.co.uk
