The British Drilling Association (BDA) SAP Apprenticeship Scheme 2021/22 is progressing well and week two of the course took place at Soil Engineering GeoServices office in Leeds. The course consisted of:
As with previous course elements, feedback from the 12 participating candidates (4 from Soil Engineering Geoservices Ltd; 3 from Alun Griffiths Contractors; 3 from Sirius Geotechnical & Environmental Ltd; 1 from WJ Groundwater Ltd and 1 from Arcadis) was incredibly positive.
The participants will continue their apprenticeship training with on-the-job training and this element will be recorded in a logbook, which will be reviewed during each classroom week. Further training weeks are planned for March and June 2022 together with more on-the-job training.
This Scheme will finish in December 2022 and when complete will in total consist of 22 days of classroom/site training and a minimum of 80 days on site supervised training, with the end result being the awarding of a “NCON Cskills Award Level 2 Diploma in Drilling Operations – Land Drilling – Lead Driller”. All candidates will undertake a “BDA Audit,” as part of their apprenticeship scheme too.
The BDA would like to thank all companies involved for releasing candidates to attend the BDA SAP Apprenticeship Scheme, as well as the candidates’ presenters for their abundant enthusiasm and positivity., etc. and as always it also goes without saying that we extend our thanks to the CITB for its support.
The BDA is presently holding discussions with the CITB about the future BDA SAP Apprenticeship Scheme, which is due to commence mid-2022, concluding at the end 2023, with grant support for levy paying companies. These discussions should be concluded in early 2022 and if any BDA member companies are interested in putting forward candidates for this scheme, please contact John Grainger at john@britishdrillingassociation.co.uk
