The BDA Technical & Standards (T&S) Sub-committee met on 19th November 2024 via Teams, with Mark Toye serving as Temporary Chair. The meeting covered key technical and safety topics affecting the industry.
Meeting Highlights:
BDA Audit Progress
17 BDA audits have recently been completed, with growth expected to exceed 226 renewals by early 2025. Key updates include mandatory asbestos awareness training and the imminent release of guidance on core handling.
Industry Collaboration
Strengthening relationships with the AGS and FPS continues. The FPS is progressing with audit revisions and contributing to CIRIA’s updated Chalk guidelines.
Leadership Transition
Gordon Ross announced his decision to step down as Chair of the T&S Sub-Committee. Lee Healey has volunteered as a potential successor, with discussions ongoing.
Next Steps
The next T&S Sub-committee meeting is scheduled for 14th January 2025. Members will continue to address critical safety issues and provide industry leadership on emerging challenges.
